Retirement Trip #7 / 2011

It is getting close to departure time and we are getting ready for this summer's vacation.  The map shows where our tentative travels will take us.

Our first sightseeing stop will be Palo Duro Canyon State Park, just south of Amarillo, TX.  From there we'll spend a week visiting our daughter in Mississippi.  Then it's on to Chattanooga, TN y'all and Monticello,VA (Jefferson's home).  Some more history at Jamestown and Yorktown.

Next stop is touring the big cities of Baltimore, MD, Philadelphia, and Amish Country, PA.  We'll visit a childhood friend of Mike's in Upstate NY and then on to our grandson's Bar Mitzvah in MA.

From there we tour New England going to Lubec, ME, the most easterly city in the US.  I'm sure we won't be up to see the first rays of sunshine to hit the US.  We'll drop in on Cambello Island, New Brunswick, Canada where FDR spent his summers.  Most of July will find us piddling along in New England visiting new places we haven't seen before as well as some old favorites in ME, NH, VT, and CN.

We then travel to Long Island where we'll stay at one of Mike's cousins that he hasn't seen in 25+ years, as well as visit his brother in Brooklyn, NY.  Next stop is Chicago to visit Judy's family and  friends who visited us this spring.  Friends in Mpls, MN is our next stop.

We'll visit North Dakota (one of the two states we've never been to - Hawaii is the other one) and say hello to Teddy Roosevelt at his National Park.  Then its on to MT and friends in Pocatello, ID.  From there we'll spend some time in SE Oregon and then back home.

We hope you'll visit our blog and follow along with us on our adventures.  A pleasant and healthy summer to all of you.  Remember, clicking on a picture will enlarge it.
